October 1-17 | New York | Unveiling – theater performance

New York
On Monday, October 5, the day of Havel’s 90th birthday, we will present a new production of his play Unveiling.
7:00 PM | Theater Performance: Unveiling A new English-language production of Václav Havel’s darkly comic one-act play, followed by a discussion of his theatrical legacy and a birthday celebration with goulash inspired by Kančí na daňčím.
Havel’s darkly comic critique of those who trade their principles for the favor of the regime and small privileges returns to the stage in a new production created for this anniversary. Ferdinand Vaněk visits old friends who try to persuade him to make the same moral compromises they have made.
Havel’s humor and political undertones make Unveiling an unsettlingly relevant farce about people who have lost their moral compass. The performance will be followed by a discussion about Václav Havel and his theatrical legacy.
